Dallas: A woman who racially abused and assaulted four Indian women in Texas in the US was arrested. This footage was shot in the parking lot of a popular commercial area in Plano along the Dallas North Tollway near Parker Road on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, shortly after 8 p.m. It has been edited to remove personal information.
On Thursday, August 25, at approximately 3:50 p.m., Plano police arrested one of the women in the video, Esmeralda Upton, on one charge of Assault (Bodily Injury) and one charge of Terroristic Threats. The incident remains under investigation by the Plano Police Department’s Crime Against Persons Unit as a hate crime, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
The arrest came after the video of the attack went viral on social media. The incident took place in a parking lot in Dallas on Wednesday night. A woman named Esmeralda, who introduced herself as a Mexican-American born in the United States, attacked the Indians. 'I hate you Indians. All Indians came to America in search of a better life. You must all go back. Everywhere I go there are Indians. Indians are everywhere here. If life in India is good, why do you come here' - asked Esmeralda shouting at the women.
Indian women filmed the events. It was released through social media. This is how the matter came out. The son of one of the beaten up women said that the incident took place when she went out for dinner with other friends. Esmeralda, who was arrested, has been charged with two charges of assault on the body and terroristic threats. A $10,000 bond is available for bail.
