A teenage jockey has died at a beach race meeting in Glenbay, Co Kerry.
The incident took place at Rosebay Strand around 5 pm today.
The jockey, believed to be in his early teens, died after falling from his horse during a race. His name has not yet been recorded.
In a statement on Saturday night, gardaà said: "A male teenager received treatment at the scene following the incident but later died.
His body was taken to the mortuary at Kerry University Hospital.
All matches in the two-day meeting were consequently cancelled.
