Dublin: Twins Christy and Chelsea Cawley, aged eight, and 18-year-old sister Lisa Cash dead after 'violent incident' at house in Tallaght, south Dublin. Local residents are still shocked by the incident and find it hard to believe that three children lost their lives.

Lisa Cash (18) and eight-year-old twins Christy and Chelsea Cawley were killed.

A teenage girl and her younger brother and sister have been killed in a terrific incident on in south Dublin. Gardai are investigating the incident. A 14-year-old boy who was injured in the incident is also being treated in hospital. The mother remains in garda care with no injuries. A man in his 20s was arrested at the scene and is currently being held at Tala Garda station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

"Following the intervention of members of the Garda Armed Support Unit, a man in his early 20s was arrested at the scene by gardai following the discharge of a deadly weapon." Members of the Garda Technical Bureau are carrying out a forensic examination at the scene.

At around 12.30am today, gardaí were alerted to a "violent incident" taking place at a house in Rossfield Estate, Tallaght. The mother of the children, who was not visually injured at the scene, but was admitted to the hospital. They have since been released and her family is being protected by the Garda.

A 14-year-old boy who was injured in the incident is also being treated in hospital. His injuries are serious but not life-threatening. State Pathologist Dr. Sally Anne Collis will conduct.
