Newdelhi: National Investigation Agency raids on popular front offices and leaders' homes across the country. National Chairman OM.A.Salam and National Secretary Nasruddin Elamaram were detained. NIA officials arrived for raids in various districts of the state on Wednesday midnight.

22 Popular Front leaders were arrested in Kerala alone in the case of providing support to terrorism. NIA raids on popular front offices across the country including in Kerala. In addition to Kerala, ED conducted raids in 100 places in 13 states including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Delhi. 106 people including national and state leaders were taken into custody.
In Kerala, 22 people including leaders were taken into custody by the NIA in Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, Malappuram, Thrissur and Kannur. Of these, eight leaders have been arrested. 13 Popular Front leaders have been taken into custody from the state. State President CP Muhammad Basheer, National Council Member Prof. P. Koya and others were among those taken into custody. After being produced in the court, they were taken to Delhi.
The hartal was called to protest the arrest of state leaders of the Popular Front and the NIA raid on their offices. In the nationwide raids conducted by the National Investigation Agency, most people were arrested from Kerala.
