Delhi: The International Olympic Committee (IOC) on Thursday issued a final warning to the IOA to "resolve governance issues" and hold elections in December, failing which the world sports body will ban India.
The IOC's executive board, which met in Lausanne on Thursday, said it would not approve an "acting/interim president" after the ousting of Indian Olympic Association president Narinder Batra and would consider secretary general Rajiv Mehta as the point. Get in touch.
Batra was removed as the IOA chief in May this year after the Delhi High Court revoked Hockey India's 'life member' status, which he contested and won the apex body elections in 2017.
Batra later formally resigned as IOA president. After the High Court removed him, Batra had issued a statement announcing his decision not to contest the IOA elections.
