Saji Cherian, a former minister for Kerala, plans to rejoin Pinarayi Vijayan's administration in the coming months. In the first week of January, he will take his oath to serve as a state minister.
After the Kerala High Court recently rejected two requests to disqualify him as a legislator due to a remark that was purportedly derogatory to the Indian Constitution, the CPM state secretariat approved his re-induction as a minister on Friday.
According to the petitions, Cherian was disqualified for her activities under section 9 of the 1951 Representation of the People Act.
Following public outcry, Saji Cherian resigned from the Kerala Fisheries and Culture Ministry on July 6.
In July, Cherian remarked at a party event in the Pathanamthitta district of Kerala, "We all say that India has a beautifully crafted Constitution. But I believe that the Constitution was intended to rob the majority of Indians of their rights. A constitution was written by an Indian and prepared by the British. In this nation, it has been used for 75 years. The Constitution's goal is to take advantage of the average person, despite the fact that it contains elements of a few positive things like democracy and secularism.
The words caused a significant uproar, and Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan asked the Left politician for an explanation. Khan requested a video of the contentious statement from the chief secretary of Kerala, saying he would examine it to see if the minister had broken the law and then report back to the president.
The Congress, in opposition, demanded Cherian's resignation and warned of legal action if he refused.
