Fake Garda vetting case, firm (private homecare) still allows to issue work permits in Ireland - Report

The Irish government is still issuing work permits to a private homecare firm that was excluded from government contracts after submitting false Garda vetting documents, an investigation has revealed.

Good People Homecare is a private healthcare company that has been embroiled in controversy over the fabrication of fake Garda vetting documents in Ireland.
Good People Homecare, a company that provides staffing and care services in Ireland, was subsequently blacklisted by Tusla (the Child and Family Agency).
The move came after the company was found to have falsified background checks on employees working in child care centres. Tusla had terminated contracts against care workers and a former employee was punished after the company was found to have falsified background checks on care workers.
However, official information indicates that the company is still receiving government work permits despite this ban and strict inspections.
Subsequent government approvals
Documents confirm that the Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment granted the firm several work permits even after the contract was cancelled. The permits include the following:
  • In 2025 The company was granted four work permits.
  • In the first half of 2026 Five more permits were issued.
This incident highlights a major communication gap between different government departments. While one government department has banned a company for violating child safety standards, another department continues to facilitate foreign recruitment for the same company.
Security concerns
Under Irish law, Garda vetting (police background checks) is mandatory for anyone working with children or other vulnerable groups. It is a serious offence to employ people by presenting false documents. There has been widespread criticism over how a company with such a security lapse continues to receive work permits.
The Department of Enterprise has not yet made an official response on whether the company's existing permits will be revoked or the company will be prohibited from further action on this matter.
