Transport operators, government departments, councils and utilities are all brain-storming the best approach for the next week.
It comes as the current yellow low temperature and ice warning switches to orange from Sunday evening.

Forecasts indicate that the frigid weather will last far into next week.
According to Cathal Nolan of the Weather Channel, there is still no indication of a thaw.
In the coming hours and again tonight, he predicted, "we can expect those temperatures to actually plummet, plunging back to -6, maybe -7, under clear sky in some spots."
Overnight, the temperature dropped as low as -6 degrees.
Dublin, Kildare, and Wicklow were given status yellow snow warnings, while the entire country was given a level yellow freeing fog and ice warning.
