The latest Garda recruitment will start on 24 March 2023, announced Justice Simon Harris TD. Recruitment is carried out by the Public Recruitment Service on behalf of the Gardai.
Candidates can apply online at www.publicjobs.ie from 24 March 2023 to 15.00 on 14 April 2023.
Commissioner Harris said, "Being a garda is a great job. You can make a real difference to people's lives. Policing is an honorable career and an extension of good citizenship. Every day, gardaà make communities and people safer through their unique approach. "It's a tough job with challenges, but one of job satisfaction. In terms of what you get out of it, it's much more than that.
"An Garda SÃochána is an increasingly diverse organisation. The Garda has one of the highest rates of female officers in Europe and over 20 per cent of the last Garda recruits were from minorities. It is recognized that there is more to be done in this regard to meet the aim of fully representing the people who serve. People from all backgrounds and communities want, need and want to be Gardai. I would ask them to please apply, this is the only way the gardaà can get the representation between the ranks that communities need and deserve.
Ireland will need 15,000 gardaà not only to meet the government target of 15,000 gardaÃ, but also to take account of population growth, demographic change and the rapidly changing nature of crime.
To promote the recruitment competition, the promotional campaign with the tagline “It's a job worth doing” will go live on TV, national and local print, radio, online, social media and outdoor from 24th March 2023. The campaign also targets Irish people living in countries such as the UK, US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
