Status orange and yellow wind warnings are in effect for many counties in Ireland

A Status Orange and Yellow wind warning came into effect for many counties in Ireland this evening. Met Éireann warned of widespread gusts of between 90km/h and 110km/h, which could be stronger in coastal areas and higher ground. Meteorologists warn that waves will rise in some coastal areas.

The warning for counties Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Louth, Meath, Wexford, Wicklow, Cork and Waterford will remain in place until 9.00pm.

Another warning will come into effect from 1.00am tomorrow for counties Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Galway and Mayo. The warning will remain in effect until 5:00 pm tomorrow.

A special orange wind warning is in effect from 2.00am to 5.00am in West Clare and from 2.00am to 8.00am in County Kerry.

Special status yellow wind warning for Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wexford and Wicklow, Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Leitrim, Roscommon, Sligo, Tipperary and Waterford from 8am tomorrow will take effect. This warning ends tomorrow at 8pm. They said there will be rain along with the wind, very heavy rain and thundershowers.

Meanwhile, the UK Met Office has issued a status yellow rain warning for counties Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry. The warning came into effect from 3 pm and will remain in effect until 3 am tomorrow.

Another warning for Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry comes into effect at 11am tomorrow and ends at 8pm that evening.
