The staff nurse who participated in the rescue mission of the Air India flight died unexpectedly in the UK

UK: The unexpected death of a Malayali nurse in Cambridge has come as a shock to UK Malayalis and their loved ones in the country. Pratibha Keshavan (38) had booked a ticket to go home today after two years, and the news of his death came.

Pratibha's children, who had dreamed of their mother's arrival and flying back to the UK with their mother, are now devastated to hear the news of her death. This time Pratibha had decided to bring her husband, children and parents with her when she returned home. The news of Pratibha's death came when everyone along with his family was about to go to the embassy today for visa purposes.

Pratibha came to the UK two and a half years ago. She lived in a rented house. Pratibha's only sister, Pratisha, who is a nurse, and her family live in Croydon, London. Two days ago, Pratibha took the house to stay with her family as her family was coming from the home country. She was alone in this house as Pratibha has decided to go home these coming days. Pratisha called her sister Pratibha, did not answer the phone for a long time to know how the preparations for the trip went. Not knowing what the reason was, Pratisha immediately contacted her sister Pratibha's friend and asked him to go to the house and look. When the friend arrived, the house was locked from the inside. The owner of the rented house was contacted after he rang the calling bell but did not open and when he went inside she was lying motionless.

After the completion of the police procedures, arrangements are being made to transport her body under the leadership of Kairali UK, a cultural organization. Pratibha was active in social and cultural activities.  After the formalities are completed, the her body will be placed in Cambridge for public viewing and then brought back to the country. It is suggested that the cause of death was a heart attack. 

Pratibha boarded the flight to the UK after leaving her children with her parents at home. Pratibha wanted to see her children on this journey and bring them back to the UK. But all the loved ones came to know with shock the news that Pratibha succumbed to death leaving behind all the good life and dreams.

Pratibha, who participated in the Air India flight rescue mission two years ago, is a staff nurse at Cambridge University Hospital. On the night of October 5, 2021, Pratibha assisted the delivery of Maria Philip, a native of Pathanamthitta, on the Air India Dreamliner flight that left London for Kochi. Maria was in her seventh month. Bed rest was also prescribed for Maria, but within an hour and a half after the flight left London, Maria Philip experienced labor pains. After informing the cabin crew, a doctor, an MBBS student and four nurses on the flight came to help the woman. Among them, Pratibha was the only one who had knowledge of obstetric theatre. Pratibha then led the delivery of the passenger.

When the medical team, including Pratibha, who provided emergency medical care, reached Kochi, there was an outpouring of appreciation. All the loved ones are shocked to hear the news of the demise of Pratibha, who has already gained public attention by leading many charity activities. Father Kumarakam Kadalikattumali K. Kesavan is a retired teacher. He is also the local secretary of political party CPM Kumarakam North.
