Drogheda: Indian Association's (DMA), Ireland Drogheda Celebrated Onam festival 'Onnichonam Ponnonam' in Colour'.
Indian Ambassador to Ireland Sri Akhilesh Mishra inaugurated the Onam celebrations and Irish guests like Member of Parliament Jed Nash and Our Lady Lourdes Hospital Director of Nurse Adrian Cleary dressed in Kerala costumes.
Apart from them, Drogheda Mayor Aileen Tully, Indian Ambassador Akhilesh Mishra's wife and other dignitaries participated in the Onam celebrations. Hundreds of Malayalees along with their families participated in the DMA Onam celebration which lasted from 10 am to 11 pm.
Arts and sports competitions for children and adults, tug of war for men and women, Thiruvathira, cinematic dance and live band were the highlights of the Onam celebrations. More than 500 people were served a sumptuous Onasadya in the afternoon and a live traditional Kerala tea stall was set up from 4.30 pm to 8 pm.
Along with Onam celebrations, raffle ticket draw and prize distribution took place. Onam celebrations were led by DMA office bearers Emy Sebastian, Basil Abraham, Anil Mathew, Sylvester John, Dinu Jose, Donny Thomas, Bijo Pampakkal, Vijesh Antony, Jugal Jose, Yesudas Devasi and Biju Varghese.
