A university college debate on the ongoing Palestinian conflict in Ireland's capital Dublin witnessed chaotic scenes where some Muslim students shouted at Jewish students and threatened large-scale violence.
Several videos of the controversial discussion have gone viral on the internet. Many X users can be heard in viral videos sharing the anti-Semitic incident claiming that the pro-Palestinian students threatened to repeat the horrific October 7 terrorist attack against Israel over and over again.
The incident took place during a debate organized by the university's Literary & Historical Society. The topic of discussion was "This House believes that the West has failed in Palestine". Initially, it was a three-on-three debate, but after hours of confusion, Richard Boyd Barrett from People Before Profit debated UK lawyers Natasha Hausdorff for Israel.
Hours before the debate, two people who were supposed to argue against the motion withdrew from the debate. A debater supporting the Palestinian cause was Ibrahim Halawa, who was scheduled to debate with Boyd Barrett. Halawa, from Firhouse, Dublin, was arrested during a protest in 2013 for supporting Mohammed Morsi of the Muslim Brotherhood (a terrorist organization declared by many countries). Halawa spent more than four years in Cairo prisons before being acquitted by an Egyptian court.
Meanwhile, pro-Israel commentator Mark Humphries had to step aside to allow the debate to take place in a one-on-one format, as Natasha Hausdorff refused to debate Halawa's past record.
In several videos circulating on social media, some people can be heard shouting "get out," while several attendees can be seen being escorted out of the Fitzgerald chamber where the debate is taking place.

In the viral videos, a man can be heard repeatedly shouting Allahu Akbar and making aggressive gestures, prompting security to intervene.

However, an Irish NGO that supports Israel wrote, “At a debate at University College Dublin last night, our speaker Natasha Hausdorff managed to give a very informative speech about Israel, which descended into chaos when someone in the audience started shaking his fist. An Israeli student present shouted 'Allahu Akbar'.

In an audio recording of unclear quality, a verbal confrontation and threats involving the student and another female student were provided. Some individuals who shared videos of the incident claimed that the target was of Jewish origin. However, due to the indistinctness of the audio, an exact verbatim exchange could not be established.
