A status yellow warning for wind and rain has been issued across the country from midnight tonight to 3.00 pm tomorrow. Strong and damaging winds are expected across the country. Met Eireann forecasters say strong and damaging winds will cause damage to exposed and vulnerable structures, hazardous travel conditions, disruption to services and damage to power lines.
Road users should expect 'dangerous conditions' on the roads. Road users should expect dangerous conditions, Leonard warned: "There's going to be a significant number of trees down across the road network tomorrow." He said this would make travel conditions very difficult, especially in the first half of the day. Motorists are urged to slow down, take care and be aware of vulnerable road users, especially pedestrians.
Drivers of high-sided vehicles should also consider the local conditions surrounding their journey. Heavy rains from the recent storms Babette and Ciaran left parts of the island flooded. The Met Éireann forecaster says people should follow the advice of their local authorities and not take unnecessary risks.
The National Parks and Wildlife Services has asked the public to avoid Killarney National Park during warning times. In case of an emergency or downed wires, the ESB Networks number is 1800 372 999.
