"Ilaya Dalapathy Vijay", who started his own political movement in Tamil Nadu; Target is 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly polls

New Delhi: The "Ilaya Dalapathy Vijay", who started his own political movement in Tamil Nadu, has said that political activity is not a hobby for him. 

Meanwhile, Vijay's political party will not contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He said that he will not support anyone in this election and  his target is 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly polls while he steers clear of extending support to any party in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The first meeting of the party will be held on Saturday. Vijay will meet the district secretaries on Saturday. The actor entered politics at the age of 49. On January 26, Vijay announced his position in a meeting of party leaders called at his home. Vijay announced his decision to register his party with the Election Commission at the meeting of Vijay Makkal Iyakam, a fan association. A team headed by Busi Anand, General Secretary of Vijay Makkal Iyakam reached Delhi and completed the registration process.

The actor attended the meeting of Vijay Makkal Iyakam in Chennai last day for more than three hours. In the meeting, the leaders of the fan group had put forward the demand to contest the Lok Sabha elections in this Lok Sabha elections, but Vijay suggested that the action should be aimed at the 2026 assembly elections. It is also reported that Vijay will meet civic leaders of Tamil Nadu in the coming days in the wake of the party's announcement.
