Limerick: A 23-year-old woman was killed by a dog in Ireland. It is believed that the owner was bitten and mauled by an XL Bully pet dog. Nicole Morey (23) from Limerick, Ireland, was killed by an XL bully dog at her home in Ballyneaty, Limerick, Ireland at around 4.00 pm on Tuesday.
The property was leased a year ago. After living there for almost 12 months, Mori was not known by the locals in Ballinetty village or her neighbours. She recently posted on the Dog Behavior and Training Tips Facebook group seeking advice on training her pet.
"When I go to walk my xl he freaks out and runs to the door excitedly," she wrote. "But we're very excited to have him on a lead and collar."
It is suggested that it was raised by the deceased. Nicole could not be survived. The death of Nicole Morey, who was killed by a dog on her own birthday, has added to the grief of friends and relatives. Tributes poured in.
There are four dogs in the house, two of which Gardai believe attacked Nicole. A dog is understood to have been shot dead by a gardai. The other 2 dogs were pepper sprayed and replaced. Sources say the scene was horrifying and officers tried their best in the situation.

A few months ago, on 27 November, 9-year-old Alejandro Misan was attacked by a pit bull cross while playing on a housing estate in Enniscorthy. The child escaped with life-threatening injuries. Parts of the nine-year-old's face and body were "completely destroyed" in the incident, with the child requiring skin grafts and stitches for the injuries. The dog continued to maul the boy until the neighbor "hit the dog" with a baseball bat and removed it from the boy. The dog owners are now in jail.
Some dog breeders break the law and in 2024 there were around 100 attacks in Ireland alone. This includes both children and adults. Banned in England and Wales, the XL bully dog is not yet regulated in Ireland. Take the necessary precautions of a dog warden, and you should not be alarmed by the smell of danger. If you see a large dog tied up, be very careful when you approach it.
What is an XL Bully?
An American Bully XL is not a registered breed, but a hybrid of different breeds. Although not a recognized species, they are identified by certain physical characteristics. The XL Bully has a 48-51 cm stand, a large and broad head, a muscular and arched neck, a heavily muscled body with a broad chest, a medium length tail, as well as a shiny and smooth skin.
Why is XL Bully so dangerous?
Their powerful jaws can cause more damaging wounds than other dog breeds, and these wounds can cause broken skin and ruptured nerves. Then the victim dies.
