London: 'Nightsleeper-style' cyber attack in UK has reportedly affected public transport at 20 railway stations.
Those who logged in using public 'wifi' at the stations could see notes and footage related to terrorist attacks in Europe. There are reports that there has been a large-scale cyber attack on 20 major railway stations across Britain, including ten in London.
The cyber attack affected public 'Wi-Fi' systems for passengers. The railway authorities officially confirmed that the cyber attack took place including railway stations like London Euston, Manchester Piccadilly, Liverpool Lime Street, Birmingham New Street and Glasgow Central. Telent, a private firm, manages Wi-Fi at the cyber-attacked stations.
Passengers posted on social media that the Wi-Fi landing page after the hack contained information about terrorist attacks under the heading 'We love you, Europe'. Allegations are being made that the attack is being compared to the new drama Nightsleeper on a national channel.
British Transport Police have launched an investigation after widely reported sightings of messages about terror attacks in Europe. This type of cyber attack has caused concern among public Wi-Fi users.
