Srinagar: Security forces killed three terrorists in an encounter in Jammu Army's Katwa district.
The terrorists were killed in an operation conducted by a special team of the Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police. Para Commandos, Garhwal Rifles and Special Operations Group of the Army took part in the operation. The search for the terrorists in the area is going on.
Army's move to start the first phase of voting in Jammu Commission on 18th of this month. Earlier, a BSF jawan was shot dead in Akhnoor sector. A search operation based on the intelligence received later resulted in an encounter and the terrorists were killed by the army.
Security has been beefed up in the institution ahead of general elections. After the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019, elections will be held for the first time in the Union Territory government. The results of the three-phase election will be announced on October 8.
