Lakshadweep: The Centre's involvement in the construction of a fishing harbor at Kiltan Island. Such a move came after Mr. Mahda Hussain, a native of Kiltan Island and state president of Lakshadweep Yuva Morcha, approached the Union Fisheries Ministry.
Mahda Hussain approached the Union Ministry pointing out that due to cyclones and rough seas in the past, the fishermen of Kiltan Island had lost their livelihood boats and small boats.
He informed the ministry that the construction of a fishing harbor in this area is a matter of great urgency to protect the boats of the fishing workers and others from such future storms. It is in this situation that the Assistant Commissioner of the Ministry of Fisheries, Lakshadweep, has been instructed to take appropriate action in this matter.
