Vacating a seat for one's outgoing leader is a recurring trend in Indian politics

New Delhi: Vacating a seat for one's outgoing leader is a recurring trend in Indian politics. Delhi Chief Minister Atishi's action is the latest.

Today, Atishi vacated Kejriwal's chair in the Chief Minister's office leaving a hint that the resigned former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will return.

Atishi said that Kejriwal is his bada bhai and described Arvind Kejriwal as the only Chief Minister of Delhi.

Atishi had earlier said that Kejriwal will be the chief minister when AAP comes back to power in the next elections.

The process of vacating the same seat was earlier staged in Tamil Nadu. During the time of late former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa.

The time Jayalalitha was in Parappana Agrahara jail in Bengaluru after being convicted in the case of illegal acquisition of property.

Otakara Thevar Panneerselvam, an OPS, got the chance to lead the Anna DMK cabinet then.

OPS, who was the finance minister, was not even ready to enter Jayalalitha's office after becoming the chief minister.

That action was pointed out that he was not qualified to sit in the office of 'mother'.

From September 28, 2014 to May 23, 2015, OPS Jayalalitha's office itself was vacated.

Instead, he ruled Tamil Nadu as Chief Minister from his office room in the Secretariat during his time as Finance Minister.

During her tenure, OPS administration was completely subservient to Jayalalitha.

OPS, who had come to present the budget as the finance minister, came to the assembly with a box with Jayalalithaa's picture on it.
