Ireland's weekend was drenched in cold and rain. Status yellow rain warnings are in place for Cork and Waterford, with 'spot flooding' expected. A yellow weather warning is usually issued for weather that does not pose a threat to the general population but poses a risk on a localized scale.
A status yellow rain warning has been issued for Cork and Waterford, which will come into force on Sunday evening. Met Eireann said in a warning issued on Saturday afternoon that heavy and persistent rain could lead to flooding.
Cork alerts valid from 5pm to 11pm.and for Waterford, warning will start at 6pm and last until midnight on Monday. In the evening, persistent and heavy rain will affect southern counties with spot flooding. A rain alert is generally issued if between 30mm and 50mm of rain is expected in a 24-hour period.
Almost everyone took shelter in coats and houses when the midland counties felt a sudden chill between 2 and 3 in midnight to early morning. Temperatures will rise to 7C to 10C in the northern half of the country, although the south will feel slightly warmer up to 14C. Met Eireann says this evening will be generally dry and clear. Elsewhere, most areas remained dry from late afternoon on Saturday, but there were occasional spells of rain.
