A status yellow wind warning is in place across the country until 3.00am tomorrow as Storm Ashley hits Ireland. Ashley will turn the weather into a storm across the country for most of the day.
Storm Ashley will bring heavy rain and strong winds across Ireland as it passes over Ireland today. The situation will be more severe especially on the west coast where flooding is expected due to high tide.
Winds could reach full hurricane force, forecasters predict strong and damaging winds. Winds lashed most counties since early morning. The road was littered with dead bodies and other debris. Most county roads are flooded and some roads are impassable
A status orange wind warning is in place for counties Clare, Kerry, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo for the west coast today from 10am to 8pm.
Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, Cork, Kerry and Waterford are also under a status yellow rain warning until 9am today.
Meanwhile, Northern Ireland counties Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry are also under a yellow rain warning until midnight tonight.
Met Eireann said heavy rain will continue eastwards this morning with a chance of sunshine in the east.

Met Eireann said the rain would be heaviest in the west and north-west, with isolated thunderstorms and flash flooding possible. High temperatures are forecast to be between 12 and 16 degrees.
