New Delhi, India: Prime Minister Narendra Modi received Nigeria's highest civilian honour, the ‘Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger’, on Sunday during his visit to Abuja. The award was presented by Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa.
Expressing his gratitude, PM Modi described the award as a tribute to India's 140 crore citizens and the enduring friendship between India and Nigeria. "This honour is not just mine but for 140 crore Indians. It reflects the centuries-old ties between our nations,
" he said. Upon his arrival in Abuja, PM Modi was warmly welcomed by Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, Nigeria’s Minister for the Federal Capital Territory. As a gesture of respect and trust, Wike presented him with the symbolic 'Key to the City' of Abuja.
