Jharkhand Man Arrested for Gruesome Murder of Live-In Partner

Khunti, Jharkhand: A 25-year-old man, Naresh Bhengra, has been arrested for the alleged rape, murder, and dismemberment of his 24-year-old live-in partner in Khunti district, police officials confirmed on Wednesday. The horrifying crime came to light on November 24 when a stray dog was found carrying human remains near Jordag village in the Jariagarh police station area.

The Crime

According to police reports, Bhengra, a butcher who had been working in Tamil Nadu, admitted to the brutal crime during interrogation. He and the victim, who was also from Khunti, had been cohabiting in Tamil Nadu before Bhengra secretly returned to Jharkhand, where he married another woman. The victim, unaware of his marriage, pressured him to return to Jharkhand.

Inspector Ashok Singh detailed the sequence of events: “The accused took the victim to a forested area near his village after they arrived in Jharkhand. Under the pretext of visiting his home, Bhengra fetched sharp weapons, raped her, and then strangled her with her dupatta. He subsequently dismembered her body into 40 to 50 pieces, leaving the remains in the forest for wild animals.”

Investigation and Arrest
The victim had informed her mother of her plans to live with Bhengra, which helped authorities establish the timeline of events. Following the discovery of the body parts, police recovered a bag containing the victim's Aadhaar card and other belongings, which were identified by her mother.

The Khunti superintendent of police, Aman Kumar, stated, “Based on the evidence and the mother’s suspicion, Bhengra was apprehended. During questioning, he admitted to the crime and provided details of his actions.”

Discovery of Evidence
The gruesome crime first came to light when locals spotted a stray dog with a severed hand in the area. Further searches led to the recovery of additional body parts scattered in the forest. “Bhengra confessed to leaving the dismembered body in the forest, assuming wild animals would consume the remains,” Inspector Singh added.

Bhengra is now in police custody as further investigations are underway. The incident has shocked the community and underscored the need for heightened awareness and preventive measures against domestic and gender-based violence.
