Khunti, Jharkhand: A 25-year-old man, Naresh Bhengra, has been arrested for the alleged rape, murder, and dismemberment of his 24-year-old live-in partner in Khunti district, police officials confirmed on Wednesday. The horrifying crime came to light on November 24 when a stray dog was found carrying human remains near Jordag village in the Jariagarh police station area.
The Crime
Inspector Ashok Singh detailed the sequence of events: “The accused took the victim to a forested area near his village after they arrived in Jharkhand. Under the pretext of visiting his home, Bhengra fetched sharp weapons, raped her, and then strangled her with her dupatta. He subsequently dismembered her body into 40 to 50 pieces, leaving the remains in the forest for wild animals.”
The Khunti superintendent of police, Aman Kumar, stated, “Based on the evidence and the mother’s suspicion, Bhengra was apprehended. During questioning, he admitted to the crime and provided details of his actions.”
Bhengra is now in police custody as further investigations are underway. The incident has shocked the community and underscored the need for heightened awareness and preventive measures against domestic and gender-based violence.
