Delhi, January 20: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal admitted to falling short on three significant promises made during his tenure. Addressing a public gathering as part of his assembly election campaign, Kejriwal candidly stated, "I could not fulfill three promises – first, cleaning the Yamuna, second, providing clean drinking water, and third, making Delhi's roads of European standard."
He emphasized, however, that considerable progress had been made in each of these areas. Kejriwal assured citizens that these unfinished tasks would be completed in the next five years, provided his government is re-elected.

Elaborating on his plans, Kejriwal said his administration had already taken substantial measures to clean the Yamuna, improve water quality, and upgrade road infrastructure. However, challenges such as bureaucratic hurdles and resource constraints had delayed their full realization.
"These projects are not just promises; they are our commitment to Delhiites. While a lot has been done, the work remains incomplete. I promise you, in the next five years, these tasks will be finished," he declared.
The candid admission and renewed commitment have sparked discussions across political circles and the public domain. While some lauded his honesty, critics questioned the prolonged delays and sought accountability for the unfulfilled promises.
As the election campaign gains momentum, Kejriwal's acknowledgment of lapses is seen as a strategic move to build trust with voters. Whether this will translate into electoral success for the AAP remains to be seen.
The upcoming elections are critical for AAP, which seeks to retain its hold over Delhi amidst challenges from rival parties. The focus on infrastructure, environment, and basic amenities is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping voter sentiment.
