External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr. S. Jaishankar will represent the Government of India at the swearing-in ceremony of President-Elect Donald J. Trump as the 47th President of the United States of America. The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed the development on Sunday, following an official invitation extended by the Trump-Vance Inaugural Committee.

The inauguration is scheduled for Monday, January 20, 2025, at 12 PM local time on the West Front of the US Capitol in Washington, DC. “On the invitation of the Trump-Vance Inaugural Committee, EAM Dr. S. Jaishankar will attend the swearing-in ceremony of President-Elect Donald J. Trump, representing the Government of India,” the MEA said in a statement.

Engagements During the Visit

During his visit, Dr. Jaishankar is expected to hold discussions with key members of the incoming US administration and engage with international leaders attending the event. This visit underscores the strategic partnership between India and the United States and offers an opportunity to strengthen bilateral ties as the Trump administration begins its tenure.
