Nagpur Tragedy: Student Murders Parents After Academic Disagreement

A tragic incident in Nagpur, Maharashtra, has come to light, where a 25-year-old engineering student allegedly murdered his parents following a dispute over his academic performance and career choices. According to reports from PTI, the accused, Utkarsh Dhakhole, killed his parents at their residence in Kapil Nagar on December 26. After the crime, he concealed their bodies and told relatives that his parents had traveled to Bengaluru for a meditation program. He also managed to hide the grim reality from his college-going sister by staying with her at their uncle's house.

The authorities were alerted when neighbors reported a foul odor emanating from the house. Upon investigation, police discovered the decomposed bodies of the victims—Liladhar Dhakhole, 55, a technician at a power plant and social worker, and his wife Aruna, 50. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Niketan Kadam confirmed that Utkarsh confessed to the murders during questioning.

The motive behind the brutal killings is believed to stem from a disagreement over Utkarsh's future. Police suspect that the young man, who had failed several subjects in his engineering course, became enraged when his parents suggested he quit engineering and pursue an alternative career path. The official added that Utkarsh strongly opposed their suggestion, which may have triggered the violent outburst.

In a similarly shocking case of familial violence, a man from Lucknow was arrested for the brutal murders of his mother and four sisters. The accused allegedly conspired with his father to kill the victims by lacing their food and alcohol with intoxicants. Some were strangled, while others were attacked with a blade. The perpetrator claimed the killings were motivated by a desire to "protect" the family from neighbors who, he alleged, were plotting to seize their property in Agra and sell his sisters into trafficking in Hyderabad.
