Putin Highlights "Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership" in Russian-Indian Relations

Russian President Vladimir Putin reaffirmed the robust and enduring nature of Russian-Indian relations, describing them as a "special and privileged strategic partnership." In a message to mark India’s 76th Republic Day, President Putin extended warm congratulations to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, underscoring the shared commitment to deepening cooperation across multiple domains.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs released the statement, wherein President Putin expressed confidence in the continued enhancement of bilateral ties. “Russian-Indian relations are based on special and privileged strategic partnership. I am confident that we will jointly work to consistently build up productive cooperation across all areas, as well as maintain constructive interaction on international platforms,” Putin stated. He further emphasized that such collaboration aligns with the fundamental interests of both nations and contributes to establishing a fair, multipolar international order.

President Putin also commended India's Constitution, which came into force 75 years ago, for laying the foundation of a robust democratic framework and effective governance. “Since then, India has achieved universally recognized successes in socioeconomic, scientific, and technological fields, gaining well-deserved authority on the global stage,” he added.

In line with the tradition of reciprocal engagements, President Putin is expected to visit India in 2025, with specific dates to be finalized early in the year. The visit will serve to reinforce bilateral ties under the framework of longstanding annual summits between the leaders of the two nations.

Regular contact between President Putin and Prime Minister Modi further underscores the strength of this partnership. The two leaders maintain a dynamic dialogue, with frequent telephone conversations and meetings on the sidelines of international events. Most recently, Prime Minister Modi visited Moscow in July for the 22nd Russia-India Summit, followed by his participation in the BRICS Summit in Kazan in October.

This sustained diplomatic engagement reflects the mutual commitment to advancing the shared vision of strategic partnership between Russia and India, fostering cooperation that spans political, economic, scientific, and cultural spheres.
