Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh), February 1: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu praised the Union Budget 2025, presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, describing it as a "pro-people and progressive" financial roadmap for the nation.
"This budget reflects the vision for a Viksit Bharat under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It prioritizes the welfare of women, the poor, youth, and farmers while identifying six key sectors for economic growth over the next five years," Naidu stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
The Chief Minister further highlighted the budget’s emphasis on middle-class tax relief, calling it a crucial step toward national prosperity. "This budget marks a significant move towards India's economic growth. It is a comprehensive and inclusive blueprint that ensures a prosperous future for our country. Additionally, the tax relief for the middle class, the backbone of our economy, is a welcome move," Naidu added.
Key Announcements in Union Budget 2025
The budget introduced a major tax relief measure, exempting income up to ₹12 lakh from taxation, significantly benefiting middle-class taxpayers. For salaried individuals, the exemption limit is further extended to ₹12.75 lakh, including a ₹75,000 standard deduction.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman emphasized that the revised income tax structure would simplify the taxation system and enhance disposable income, boosting household consumption, savings, and investment. "Slabs and rates are being changed across the board to benefit all taxpayers. The new structure will substantially reduce taxes for the middle class and leave more money in their hands," Sitharaman said.
PM Modi and Amit Shah Applaud Budget 2025
Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the Union Budget 2025 as a "Force Multiplier" for India's development, calling it a budget of aspirations for the nation’s 140 crore citizens.
"This budget reflects the dreams of every Indian. By making income up to ₹12 lakh tax-free, it will greatly benefit our middle class while also providing opportunities for young professionals entering the workforce," Modi stated.
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also congratulated Prime Minister Modi and Finance Minister Sitharaman for presenting what he described as a "comprehensive and visionary" budget. Shah underscored the income tax exemption as a key measure reflecting Modi’s commitment to middle-class welfare.
