India Raises Concerns Over Khalistani Activities in US During High-Level Meeting

India has formally raised concerns regarding the activities of the banned Khalistani organization Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) in the United States during a high-level meeting between Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and US Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard, sources confirmed on Monday.

Recognized as an unlawful association under Indian law, SFJ has been acti

vely involved in anti-India activities. During the meeting, India urged the US to take stringent measures against the organization, emphasizing the need for stronger cooperation on counterterrorism efforts.

Strengthening India-US Intelligence and Defence Ties

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and US DNI Tulsi Gabbard convened in New Delhi to discuss key aspects of defence cooperation and intelligence sharing between the two nations. Following the meeting, Singh shared an update on X (formerly Twitter), stating:

"Happy to have met the US Director of National Intelligence Ms. Tulsi Gabbard in New Delhi. We discussed a wide range of issues, including defence and information sharing, aiming to further deepen the India-US partnership."

Gabbard’s Multi-Nation Visit and India’s Strategic Engagements

Tulsi Gabbard is visiting India as part of a broader multi-nation tour, with her Asia leg culminating in a keynote address at the Raisina Dialogue on March 18. Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally invited Gabbard to the prestigious security forum, which brings together global policymakers to discuss pressing geopolitical and geoeconomic challenges.

On Saturday, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval also met with Gabbard, where they reportedly delved into multiple dimensions of the India-US relationship, reinforcing bilateral commitments on security and intelligence cooperation.

Context of Gabbard’s Visit and Raisina Dialogue Participation

Gabbard’s visit follows Prime Minister Modi’s recent US tour in February, where he engaged with Gabbard and acknowledged her as a "strong proponent of India-US friendship." In response, Gabbard called it an "honor" to welcome PM Modi and reaffirmed her commitment to strengthening ties between Washington and New Delhi.

In addition to her address at the Raisina Dialogue, Gabbard is slated to engage in a keynote conversation with Samir Saran, President of the Observer Research Foundation (ORF).

The 10th edition of the Raisina Dialogue, co-hosted by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and ORF, will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi today. New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, the event’s chief guest, will deliver the keynote address.

Scheduled to take place in New Delhi from March 17-19, the Raisina Dialogue is India’s flagship conference on geopolitics and geoeconomics, bringing together world leaders, security experts, and policymakers to discuss critical global challenges.
