Bhopal, March 13 (ANI): With the upcoming celebrations of Holi and Friday prayers in the state capital, Madhya Pradesh police have heightened security measures to maintain peace and prevent any untoward incidents. Law enforcement authorities have taken stringent action against over 1,000 individuals with criminal records in recent days, reinforcing their commitment to ensuring a safe environment during the festivities.
“These events—Holi and Friday prayers—are of great significance, and extensive preparations have been made to uphold law and order. In the past few days, police have taken action against 1,046 individuals involved in criminal activities such as stabbing and physical violence. Additionally, communication has been strengthened at every police station to ensure coordinated efforts,” stated Bhopal Commissioner of Police, Harinarayanachari Mishra, in a statement to ANI.
To further bolster security, authorities have conducted inspections of procession routes, finalized schedules, and held consultations with peace committees. Flag marches have also been organized to reinforce public confidence in law enforcement. “We have meticulously planned every aspect of the security arrangement, from inspecting procession routes to scheduling and coordinating different processions. Meetings with peace committees and flag marches have been conducted to ensure smooth and peaceful celebrations. Bhopal has a rich cultural tradition of celebrating these events in an atmosphere of harmony, and we are confident that this year will be no different,” Mishra added.
The Commissioner acknowledged that occasions like these, where multiple significant events coincide, occur a few times each year. However, he expressed confidence that, as in the past, the celebrations would be conducted in a peaceful and cooperative spirit.
Meanwhile, as part of Holi festivities, Chhoti Holi, also known as Holika Dahan, will be observed today. Symbolizing the victory of good over evil, the occasion sees Hindu devotees gather with family, friends, and community members to perform Holika Puja. As part of the ritual, effigies of Holika are burned while prayers are chanted. Before lighting the fire, devotees offer worship by wrapping a woodpile with white thread three or seven times, along with offerings of holy water, kumkum, and flowers.
With a strong security apparatus in place, the authorities remain vigilant, ensuring that the festive spirit is upheld while maintaining law and order across the city.
