New Delhi: Allegations of irregularities in voter lists across multiple states sparked a heated debate in the Lok Sabha, with Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi demanding a detailed discussion on the issue. Addressing the House during Zero Hour, Gandhi emphasized that serious concerns have been raised, particularly in Maharashtra and other states.
"Something is seriously wrong," says Rahul Gandhi
"The entire opposition is calling for a discussion on voter list discrepancies," Gandhi stated. "While I acknowledge that the government does not create the voter list, concerns regarding its accuracy and integrity are emerging nationwide."
Opposition parties across several states, including Maharashtra, have raised similar concerns. Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Saugata Roy also joined the debate, demanding transparency in the process.

TMC Highlights Allegations of Voter ID Duplication
Earlier, West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC leader Mamata Banerjee had presented documents alleging duplication of voter ID numbers, a claim reiterated by TMC MP Saugata Roy in the Lok Sabha.
"There is something fundamentally wrong here. This issue was first flagged in Maharashtra and later discussed in Haryana. Similar concerns could arise in West Bengal and Assam in the future," Roy warned.
He urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) to conduct a comprehensive review of voter lists to ensure transparency and fairness.
"A thorough re-evaluation of the voter lists is essential," Roy asserted. "The Election Commission must explain how such discrepancies have occurred."
As opposition voices continue to grow louder, the issue of voter list integrity is set to remain a key point of contention in the ongoing parliamentary session.
