New Delhi, April 1 – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a comprehensive weather alert for multiple regions across the country, forecasting intense heatwaves, heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and hailstorms over the next few days.
Rising Temperatures and Heatwave Conditions
According to IMD, isolated pockets of Saurashtra and Kutch will experience intensifying heatwave conditions on April 1. Assam is expected to witness hot and humid weather today, while Tripura will continue to endure similar conditions until April 3. Gujarat is also set to experience soaring temperatures from April 1 to 4.
In addition, maximum temperatures in Northwest India are projected to rise by 3-5°C on April 1 and 2, signaling the onset of harsher summer conditions.
Heavy Rainfall in Southern States
The IMD has also predicted heavy rainfall for specific regions in southern India. Coastal and South Interior Karnataka will receive intense showers on April 3 and 4, followed by Kerala and Mahe, which are expected to experience heavy downpours from April 3 to 6.
Thunderstorms and Gusty Winds Warning
A cyclonic circulation over Marathwada, along with a north-south trough, is expected to trigger thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (30-60 kmph) in the following regions between April 1 and 4:

Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Telangana, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala & Mahe, Konkan & Goa, and Madhya Maharashtra.
Additionally, areas such as Chhattisgarh, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, and Interior Karnataka will be affected until April 5.
Hailstorm Alert
The IMD has also issued a hailstorm warning for several states from April 1 to 4, including:

Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Odisha, Jharkhand, North Interior Karnataka, and South Interior Karnataka.
Authorities have urged residents in the affected regions to take necessary precautions as these extreme weather conditions could disrupt normal life. The IMD continues to monitor the situation and will provide further updates as necessary.
