JERUSALEM/WASHINGTON: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to visit Washington on Monday for high-level talks with U.S. President Donald Trump, his office confirmed. The upcoming meeting, set against a backdrop of escalating regional and international tensions, is expected to cover a broad range of issues, including new U.S. trade tariffs, the conflict in Gaza, and the growing threat posed by Iran.
A senior White House official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the meeting will take place Monday.
The discussions will be pivotal as both nations grapple with complex diplomatic and security challenges. Chief among them is President Trump’s recent decision to impose a 17% tariff on Israeli imports — a move that surprised both allies and analysts, adding economic strain to an already tense relationship.
