Maharashtra, Yavatmal, April 16, 2025 — In a tragic industrial accident, three workers lost their lives and two others sustained injuries when a large steel storage container collapsed at a pulse processing facility in Maharashtra’s Yavatmal district.
The incident occurred on Tuesday evening at the Manorma Jain Dal Mill, located within the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) area in Yavatmal. According to local police, the storage structure, used for storing pulses, gave way without warning, crashing down on five labourers who were engaged in routine operations at the site.
Of the three deceased, two were migrant workers from Madhya Pradesh, while the third hailed from Wardha district in Maharashtra. The injured workers are currently undergoing treatment at a nearby medical facility.
Law enforcement authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain the cause of the structural failure. Preliminary reports suggest a possible lapse in safety protocols or structural fatigue, though a detailed inquiry is pending.
The incident has raised fresh concerns over industrial safety standards and working conditions in manufacturing units across the region. Labour rights groups have called for a thorough probe and stricter enforcement of safety regulations in industrial zones.
