Two personnel of the Pakistan Coast Guards were injured on Monday in a targeted explosion when their patrol vehicle was struck by a remote-controlled bomb in the Dasht Nallah area of Jiwani, officials confirmed. In a separate incident in Pishin district, a Levies official escaped unharmed when his private vehicle was destroyed by a roadside bomb.
According to security sources, the improvised explosive device (IED) in Jiwani had been planted by unknown assailants and detonated remotely as the patrol convoy passed. The blast partially damaged the vehicle, injuring two soldiers—identified as Shah Mir and Shafqaat—who were initially taken to a nearby medical facility before being transferred to Gwadar for further treatment. Three other personnel in the vehicle remained uninjured. Security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation following the attack.
Meanwhile, in Pishin’s Huramzai Tehsil, unidentified attackers used an explosive-laden motorcycle to target a Levies official. The device exploded near the official’s private vehicle, causing considerable damage; however, the officer inside the vehicle remained safe, Levies officials said.
In a third incident reported from the Wadh area of Khuzdar district, Levies personnel successfully thwarted a potential attack by identifying and defusing another explosive device. A suspicious motorcycle parked roadside was discovered during a routine patrol. Upon inspection, a 10-kilogram IED was found attached. Bomb disposal experts from the Levies safely neutralized the device.
“The timely response by our team prevented what could have been a major incident,” stated Assistant Commissioner Wadh, Ali Akbar.
Separately, in a disturbing development from Zehri bazaar, unidentified armed individuals reportedly abducted Asfand Salehzai at gunpoint. Authorities are investigating the abduction.
