India Exposes Gaps in Pakistan's Air Defence; Launches Precision Strikes in Response to Escalating Provocations

In a decisive show of strength, India successfully penetrated Pakistan’s air defence systems for two consecutive nights, sending a clear message amid heightened regional tensions. The Indian Armed Forces launched a coordinated drone reconnaissance operation targeting key Pakistani cities, including Lahore and Rawalpindi, following Islamabad’s failed attempt to disrupt Indian radar infrastructure using loitering munitions.

According to the Ministry of Defence, Pakistan’s HQ-9 air defence missile launchers suffered extensive damage, with the system deployed in Lahore reportedly neutralised. Indian missiles crossed the border unchallenged, striking high-value terror infrastructure in Pakistan’s Punjab province on the night of May 7.

These countermeasures came in direct response to Pakistan’s attempted targeting of multiple military installations across Northern and Western India. Areas including Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bathinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj were reportedly on Pakistan’s radar. However, India's Integrated Counter-UAS Grid and Air Defence systems intercepted and neutralised the incoming threats. The Ministry confirmed that debris from downed drones and munitions has been recovered across several locations, substantiating the attempted incursions.

In a further escalation, Pakistan has intensified unprovoked artillery fire across the Line of Control (LoC), targeting civilian areas in Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar, and Rajouri sectors of Jammu and Kashmir. These attacks have claimed 16 civilian lives, including three women and five children.

India’s calibrated military response to the recent Pahalgam terror attack involved precision strikes on nine terror facilities located within Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Initial assessments suggest that close to 100 militants were eliminated in the operations.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level security review meeting with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, underscoring the government’s firm stance on national security. In light of ongoing tensions, India remains on high alert, with security mock drills conducted across several states on Wednesday to ensure operational readiness.
