Kishtwar, May 22:A fierce exchange of gunfire erupted early Thursday morning between security forces and militants in the Singhpura area of Chatroo in Kishtwar district, Jammu and Kashmir, according to official sources.
Preliminary reports suggest that three to four militants are currently engaged in an encounter with security personnel. Following the initial exchange, reinforcements from the Indian Army, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the Jammu and Kashmir Police swiftly moved in to surround the suspected location.
A coordinated joint operation is presently underway, with the area fully cordoned off as forces work systematically to neutralize the threat.
This operation follows closely on the heels of two separate encounters reported earlier this month—one in Keller, Shopian on May 13, and another in Tral, Pulwama on May 15.
In the wake of the recent Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, security forces have intensified surveillance and combing operations across the region. Additionally, local authorities have taken firm action by demolishing properties associated with militants, reinforcing their crackdown on terror networks operating within Jammu and Kashmir.
