A day after Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif publicly acknowledged that Indian BrahMos missiles had struck targets inside Pakistan before any defensive response could be mounted, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the Indian Armed Forces for the precision and impact of the operation.
Addressing a gathering in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, where he launched development projects worth nearly ₹50,000 crore, Prime Minister Modi commended the success of Operation Sindoor, describing it as a decisive blow to terror infrastructure across the border.
“We entered their (terrorists’) camps and destroyed the terror sites in Pakistan. Our Armed Forces showed such courage that the Pakistan Army ended up begging to stop the war,” said PM Modi. He further remarked that the deployment of BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles had caused “sleepless nights” for the Pakistani military.
The Prime Minister’s remarks followed a rare admission by Shehbaz Sharif, who confirmed while speaking in Azerbaijan that Indian missiles, including BrahMos, struck multiple locations within Pakistan on the nights of May 9 and 10. According to Sharif, the strikes caught Pakistan’s defense apparatus off-guard, just as the country was preparing a countermeasure.
Earlier this month, Sharif had revealed that the Indian missile barrage targeted high-value strategic assets, including the Nur Khan Air Base and other sensitive military installations. The unprecedented strike reportedly disrupted Pakistan’s response timeline and escalated tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
Modi’s acknowledgment of the operation reflects India’s assertive stance on counter-terrorism and strategic deterrence, with BrahMos once again underscoring its status as a key asset in India’s military arsenal.
