Several people injured after car crashes into Liverpool FC's victory parade in UK

UK: Several people injured after car crashes into Liverpool FC's victory parade.

A car was driven into a crowd of people in Liverpool city centre during Liverpool FC's league victory parade in the UK. Thousands of fans had lined the city's streets all day to celebrate the football club's Premier League title win. The car was driven into them.

Merseyside Police said they were called to the incident at around 6pm "following reports of a car hitting a number of pedestrians on Water Street". The force said the car was stopped at the scene and a man was taken into custody.

Merseyside Police said at 8.00pm UK time today.

"We can confirm that a 53-year-old white British man from the Liverpool area has been arrested. An extensive investigation is underway to establish the circumstances leading up to the collision." "We would ask people not to speculate about the incident that took place on Water Street in Liverpool city centre tonight,"

Footage shows police cordoning off a littered road in Liverpool during the Premier League winners' parade, with a large police presence, ambulances and a fire engine at the scene.

A large blue tent has been set up on Water Street, with two fire engines parked in front. People were injured in the incident, with images showing one person being carried away on a stretcher and one person walking with his arm around a police officer. The number of people injured in the incident is not clear.

A spokesman for the North West Ambulance Service said: "Our priority is to ensure that police and emergency services personnel dealing with a nearby incident receive the medical attention they need as quickly as possible."

Thoughts and Prayers with anyone involved in this in Liverpool during the celebrations.

Police asked the public not to "share distressing content online," but rather send footage or information directly to them.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer described the scenes as "horrific".
