Speaking on his YouTube show Who’s The Boss?, hosted alongside his wife Geeta Basra, Harbhajan reminisced about his wedding in Jalandhar on October 29, 2015. “Shikhar Dhawan came to our wedding. He danced, ate, drank, and had an absolute blast,” Harbhajan shared with a smile. “While leaving, he slipped an envelope into my pocket. I wondered what he was doing. When I opened it later, forget 101 rupees, there wasn’t even one rupee inside — it was completely empty!”
In Indian tradition, it is customary to gift envelopes containing cash, often accompanied by a one-rupee coin, as a token of blessing at weddings and special occasions.
Harbhajan then playfully turned to Rohit Sharma and his wife Ritika Sajdeh, asking whether Dhawan had done the same at their wedding. Rohit, who married Ritika on December 13, 2015, responded with a laugh: “Nothing! He danced, ate, drank, and simply left.”
Despite the teasing, both Harbhajan and Rohit were full of praise for Dhawan, fondly recalling his larger-than-life personality and immense contribution to Indian cricket. “What a guy — class!” Rohit remarked. “We’ve been playing together since our childhood days. Even before representing India, we toured Australia for India A together.”
The camaraderie between Rohit and Dhawan is well documented. The duo amassed 5,148 runs together in 115 innings, making them the fourth-highest opening partnership in ODI history.
