Iran Vows Retaliation After U.S. Airstrikes; Khamenei Warns of "Greater Blows" Ahead

Tehran | June 22, 2025 — Following U.S. airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei issued a forceful warning to Washington, stating that “Americans should expect greater damage and blows than ever before.” The statement signals a potentially dangerous escalation and underscores Tehran’s determination to respond to what it deems a deliberate act of aggression.

Echoing the Supreme Leader’s sentiments, Hossein Shariatmadari, a senior figure close to Khamenei, called for immediate military retaliation. “It is now our turn to act without delay,” he declared. “As a first step, we must launch a missile strike on the U.S. naval fleet stationed in Bahrain and simultaneously close the Strait of Hormuz to American, British, German, and French vessels.” His remarks reflect the mounting calls within Iranian leadership circles for a swift and decisive military response.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump responded with a stern warning of his own. “Any retaliation by Iran against the United States of America will be met with force far greater than what was witnessed tonight. Thank you!” the President stated, underscoring Washington’s readiness to escalate if provoked further.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry also issued a strong condemnation of the strikes, accusing the United States of gross violations of international law. “The United States, a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, has committed a grave breach of the UN Charter, international law, and the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) by attacking Iran’s peaceful nuclear installations,” said the Foreign Minister in an official statement.

Describing the events as “outrageous” and “unlawful,” the Minister warned of enduring global consequences. “Each and every member of the United Nations must be deeply alarmed by this dangerous and criminal behavior,” he said, calling on the international community to take urgent notice of what Tehran views as unprovoked and unlawful aggression.

“In accordance with the UN Charter and its provisions for self-defense, the Islamic Republic of Iran reserves all rights to respond appropriately in defense of its sovereignty, national interests, and the safety of its people,” the statement concluded.

As tensions mount in the region, international observers are closely watching Tehran’s next move, raising concerns over a broader conflict in the already volatile Middle East.
