In a significant national security development, the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) in Mohali has unearthed a sophisticated espionage network involving Jasbir Singh, a resident of Mahlan village in Rupnagar (Ropar) district, Punjab. Acting on actionable intelligence, authorities have identified Singh as a key player in a terror-linked spy ring.
Singh, who operates the YouTube channel “Jaan Mahal”, has been found to have maintained connections with Person of Indian Origin (PIO) Shakir, also known as Jutt Randhawa, a known member of an espionage group with terror affiliations. He is also reported to have been in close contact with Haryana-based YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, as well as Ehsan-ur-Rahim, alias Danish—a Pakistani national and former official of the Pakistan High Commission, who was previously expelled from India.
Investigative findings reveal that Singh attended the Pakistan National Day event in Delhi at Danish’s invitation, where he interacted with Pakistani Army officials and vloggers. Furthermore, Singh has made three visits to Pakistan—in 2020, 2021, and most recently in 2024.
A forensic examination of Singh’s electronic devices has uncovered multiple Pakistan-based contact numbers, which are currently under detailed scrutiny. Authorities also reported that following the arrest of Jyoti Malhotra, Singh made deliberate efforts to erase digital communications with suspected foreign operatives in an attempt to obstruct investigation.
An FIR has been lodged by the SSOC in Mohali, and the case remains under active investigation.
The Punjab Police, in an official statement, reaffirmed its commitment to national security and its determination to dismantle all networks that threaten India’s sovereignty. Efforts are ongoing to trace and apprehend all individuals associated with this espionage and terror-linked operation.
