Iran: Supreme Leader Khamenei says he will not surrender and will not accept 'imposed war and peace'.
US President Donald Trump has claimed that the United States has taken complete and total control of the skies over Iran. "We know exactly where the 'Supreme Leader' is hiding. He's an easy target, but he's safe there - we're not going to take him out (kill him!), at least not yet. But we don't want to fire missiles at civilians or American troops. Our patience is running out," he warned Iran's Ayatollah Khamenei.
Long-standing tensions between Israel and Iran erupted into open war on Friday, June 13, 2025, marking a period of unprecedented direct military confrontation. Israel launched a major series of warplane and drone strikes across Iran, targeting nuclear and military sites, including surface-to-surface missile production facilities, detection radar sites, and surface-to-air missile launchers.
Reports indicate that attacks have been carried out on residential areas and fuel depots, with Iran's Health Ministry reporting at least 224 deaths and more than 1,200 injuries, mostly civilians. The Israeli military has also reportedly killed several top Iranian military commanders and nuclear scientists. The IDF claims to have destroyed a third of Iran's surface-to-air missile launchers and achieved "complete air superiority" over Tehran, and also attacked an Iranian refueling aircraft 2,300 kilometers away.
In retaliation, Tehran launched a barrage of missiles and drones, hitting Israeli cities and towns, killing at least 24 people and wounding 592, with a major oil refinery in Haifa among the targets. The IDF confirmed it had intercepted more than 100 Iranian UAVs.
The international community, including China, Turkey and G7 leaders, has called for an urgent de-escalation of tensions, but both sides remain defiant. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu insists the aim of the strikes is to deter "existential" nuclear and missile threats,
Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has not ruled out targeting the group, suggesting it would "end the conflict". The United Nations' IAEA reported physical damage to an underground component above Iran's Natanz uranium enrichment facility, but external radiation levels remained normal, while warning of the possibility of internal contamination. Amid the crisis, planned nuclear talks between Tehran and Washington have been canceled.
