DMK Invites Regional Leaders to Discuss ‘Tamil Nadu Project’ at Apollo Hospital Amid Election Preparations

Chennai, July 26 — With the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections on the horizon, major political parties have intensified their groundwork to consolidate public support. In a strategic move, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has invited its regional office-bearers to a high-level consultation meeting at Apollo Hospital, where Chief Minister and DMK President M.K. Stalin is currently undergoing treatment for a health-related issue.

Despite being admitted to the hospital, Chief Minister Stalin continues to oversee both government affairs and party operations from the facility. The meeting is expected to focus on the party’s flagship initiative, the "Tamil Nadu in Unity" project, which forms a cornerstone of its outreach campaign ahead of the polls.

The initiative involves door-to-door engagement by DMK cadre to directly interact with citizens, highlight the achievements of the DMK government, and address grievances through swift redressal mechanisms. This grassroots approach is aimed at reinforcing the party’s connect with the electorate.

Meanwhile, opposition parties have also launched aggressive campaigns. All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami has begun a state-wide tour under the banner “Let’s Protect the People; Let’s Save Tamil Nadu”, visiting two to three constituencies daily and sharply criticizing the DMK administration.

In a parallel development, internal strife has rocked the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK). Party founder Dr. S. Ramadoss and senior leader Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss appear to be at loggerheads. Tensions escalated when Anbumani launched the People’s Rights Recovery Journey, a statewide campaign, which Dr. Ramadoss reportedly urged police to prohibit.

Against this backdrop of heightened political activity, the DMK’s invitation to regional leaders for consultations on the Tamil Nadu Project underscores the party’s emphasis on strategic coordination and election preparedness. The meeting, chaired by Stalin himself at Apollo Hospital, is expected to play a crucial role in fine-tuning the party’s narrative and mobilization efforts ahead of 2026.
