The Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai has forecast heavy rainfall today across several hilly districts of Tamil Nadu, including Nilgiris, Theni, Tenkasi, and Coimbatore.
On Monday, widespread rainfall was reported across various parts of Chennai. Areas such as Marina Beach, Maduravoyal, Vadapalani, and Saidapet experienced light showers accompanied by thunder and lightning. Localities including Ambattur, Padi, Anna Nagar, and Saligramam also witnessed mild rainfall, while moderate showers were recorded in Nungambakkam and Ayiram Vilakku. Rain continued into the night in areas like Koyambedu, Nerkundram, and Alwar Thirunagar.
In Thiruvarur district, areas such as Muthupettai, Pandi, Eyyur, Alangad, Jambavanodai, and Idumbavanam received over an hour of heavy rainfall, accompanied by strong winds. Similarly, in Nagapattinam district, localities including Keezhaiyur, Eesanoor, Thirupoondi, Thirukkuvalai, and Keezhvelur experienced light showers amidst gusty winds.
Authorities continue to monitor the weather conditions, and residents in the affected areas are advised to remain cautious.
