Indian Army Eliminates Pahalgam Attack Mastermind in Major Counter-Terror Operation

In a significant breakthrough for India’s counter-terror operations, the Indian Army’s Special Forces have successfully neutralised Hashim Musa, the chief architect of the recent Pahalgam terror attack. Musa, a high-ranking militant with known links to cross-border terror networks, was eliminated following a high-intensity operation based on weeks of closely coordinated intelligence efforts.

According to official sources, at least three terrorists were killed during a fierce gunfight with security forces in the densely forested Harwan area near Dachigam in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. “Three terrorists have been neutralised in an intense firefight. Operation continues,” the Army’s Srinagar-based Chinar Corps posted on X (formerly Twitter).

The encounter marks a major development in the ongoing crackdown on militant elements responsible for the April 22 Pahalgam attack, which resulted in the tragic loss of 26 civilian lives. Intelligence reports had indicated that a number of the perpetrators had possibly taken refuge in the Dachigam region—approximately 20 kilometres from central Srinagar—prompting a large-scale combing operation.

Security forces remain on high alert as the operation continues, with further details expected in the coming hours.
