On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi warmly welcomed Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, India’s pioneering astronaut, at his official residence on Lok Kalyan Marg, lauding Shukla’s historic space mission as “the first step” in India’s space exploration journey. During their meeting, Shukla, who made history as the first Indian to travel to the International Space Station (ISS), shared insights from his remarkable experience in space. As part of the Axiom-4 commercial mission to the ISS from June 25 to July 15, Shukla donned an ISRO astronaut’s jacket, symbolizing national pride. The Prime Minister greeted him with a heartfelt embrace and walked alongside him, a gesture reflecting camaraderie and admiration.
Reflecting on his time in space, Shukla explained to the Prime Minister, “The human body undergoes significant changes upon entering space. While it adapts to the environment over time, the initial adjustment period requires patience.” He further elaborated, “I couldn’t walk straight initially, but my colleagues provided invaluable support,” offering a glimpse into the challenges and collaborative spirit of life in orbit.
