On August 19, 2025, a 15-year-old girl from West Bengal, residing in Ramanattukara, Kozhikode, was allegedly subjected to a gang assault by five local youths. The victim, daughter of an out-of-state laborer, was reportedly employed at a local textile shop.

According to authorities, the minor was in a relationship with a co-worker, who is now a key suspect. On the day of the incident, the co-worker allegedly lured the victim into a vehicle, where she was rendered unconscious using chloroform. She was then taken to an isolated building and assaulted by the suspect and his five accomplices.

The victim’s father reported her missing to the Feroke Police Station on the same day. Despite initial searches, the police were unable to locate her. On August 20, the primary suspect returned the girl to her residence, leaving her in a severely distressed state. Her family immediately admitted her to a hospital, where medical examinations confirmed multiple injuries and signs of intoxication, as reported by the victim in her statement to the police.

The investigation is ongoing, with law enforcement actively pursuing the suspects, who are currently absconding. Authorities have recovered CCTV footage from the area and obtained significant leads regarding the identities of the perpetrators. A team from West Bengal Police has also arrived in Kozhikode to assist with the case.
