New Delhi, August 2: In what intelligence officials are calling a significant breakthrough, Indian agencies have reportedly uncovered covert high-level military talks between the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) and the Bangladesh Air Force (BAF), held discreetly in Dhaka between April 15 and 19, 2025. The revelation—stemming from a sensitive intelligence leak—has triggered serious concern within strategic circles in New Delhi, pointing to a fast-developing security axis between Islamabad and Dhaka.
According to highly placed sources, intercepted communications indicate that what was outwardly portrayed as a routine bilateral aviation exchange concealed a deeper, multi-domain engagement. The discussions reportedly covered areas such as drone warfare, space-based operations, cyber capabilities, encrypted battlefield communications, and even political influence tactics.
A major highlight of the closed-door deliberations was the proposed co-development of Modular and Unmanned Mission Trainers (MUMT–UMT) — sophisticated simulation systems essential for training in drone swarming and autonomous aerial combat. Pakistan, leveraging its growing expertise in unmanned systems—largely backed by Chinese technological support—is said to be offering Bangladesh direct operational insights and technical frameworks.
Equally alarming for Indian defence planners is the joint push to integrate a Tactical Air Data Link System, a highly secure, real-time communication platform designed to enhance situational awareness and coordination in ground-to-air and air-to-air operations. If implemented, such a system could significantly improve BAF’s interoperability with foreign militaries, while elevating its combat responsiveness — a development closely watched by India's Eastern Air Command.
Indian intelligence agencies are now closely monitoring subsequent movements and potential agreements arising from this military outreach, which analysts believe may be part of a broader strategic recalibration in the region.
